Sunset 2021

In this series, Still Waters, I return to black, a detail that I had ignored for years.  Water is the source of irresistible and continuous birth.  I mix the viscosity of the acrylic to give movement to thought, play with finishes between matte, satin, and gloss, thus forming densities in color and shape.  The need to seduce through color and gestural lines awoke my curiosity about the pictorial formality that I develop in this series.  As I crossed the Atlantic Ocean, I rediscovered my passion for impasto and small format autobiographical painting on linen. In these works, made during my residency in La Gomera, I was able to express the pain, intrigue and transformation experienced when moving to a new country.
